Fall is right around the corner.
And I know what you’re thinking about…
Pumpkin patches, festivals, spooky things and dare I say, pumpkin spice lattes will soon be all the rage once again.
“See it, smell it, taste it, and forget the time of day or year. Autumn needs no clock or calendar. ”
– Hal Borland
Whether you’re a pumpkin spice connoisseur or not, Pahrump has something for you and your family to do all season long.
Grab your pumpkin spice lattes and snuggle up on your couch.

1. Get Your Pumpkin Spice Fix at Our Place Coffee Shop
Finding a coffee shop with good coffee can be difficult in any small town.
Luckily for moms in Pahrump, Our Place opened their doors this past January with a focus on not only great coffee but also being family friendly.
Our Place has made it to the TOP OF OUR LIST for three reasons:
#1 They have the best Coffee and Chai we’ve ever tasted.
The coffee beans are roasted locally in Henderson just for them!
It’s no wonder you can taste the difference and they stand out from any other coffee shop we’ve been to in the country.
And their Chai is just as unique…
We have carefully created a secret recipe until we made it the best! We pride ourselves on top quality in our craft and we carefully make each recipe until it’s nailed perfectly. The biggest thing that sets it apart, I can say, is that it is perfectly creamy and not too spicy!
– The Loveless Family, Our Place
Typically, I’ll order a Dirty Chai and my son will get the Triple Berry Belgian Waffle.
I try not to steal bites from his plate…it’s a really delicious waffle!
A huge shout out to the Barista I always see working hard on every handcrafted drink.
Can we just be best friends? You nail every drink, every time!
#2 They’ve created the perfect Kid’s Corner.
With a play area inside and outside to keep the little ones busy, parents can enjoy their handcrafted beverages, pastries and lite bites in peace.
The Kid’s Corner is in a completely separate room from the main dining area.
How cool is that?
You’ll find the shelves full of building bricks, magnet tiles, games, stuffed animals, puzzles, magazines, books and more.
The Chalkboard and United States magnets are such great learning tools if you’re homeschooling. Why not bring in your own number magnets for a quick, fun math lesson the next time you visit!
#3 The Fall Drink Menu is Simply Amazing.
What really makes Our Place a Fall Family Thing to Do is their epic Fall Drink Menu that parents can choose from.
I mean, hey, mom needs her coffee.
I know I’m not the only one!
Pumpkin Bliss, Harvest Spice White Mocha, Iced Autumn Cloud Pumpkin Chai, Pumpkin Caramel Apple Cider…is your mouth watering yet?
My husband and I stood there in awe with how many options, really good options, there are to choose from.
You can check out their full menu on their website: www.OurPlacePahrump.com.
Can’t decide which one to choose?
You can order the Fall Flight if you’re really wanting to tickle those taste buds to find your new favorite drink.
Just a heads up you may want to share the flight with someone. It’s a lot of coffee!
The Verdict?
Amazing. All of them!
One did stand out from the rest: The Pumpkin Cloud Cold Brew.
As you sip on this delightful treat, you’ll imagine you’re sitting on a bench in Central Park with the withered leaves of various shades of red, yellow, orange, purple and brown falling all around you.
Your fingers, cold from the crisp Autumn morning air.
The velvety texture of the sweet and fluffy pumpkin cold foam with pie topping slowly blends in to the bold taste of the coffee as it passes your lips.
You open your eyes to realize your fingers are just really chilly from holding the cold brew.
Poof dirt flies by the window to remind you where you are.
And you’re still wearing flip flops.
Instead of being disappointed, you smile knowing you’ve just had your first taste of Autumn.
Yes, it’s really that good and it’s now tied with the Spiced Velvet Chai as my favorite Fall drink!
Make sure you check out Our Place coffee shop this Fall with the entire family!
They are currently located at 1720 E Calvada Blvd. Their hours are Monday – Friday: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. & Saturday and Sunday: 7 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Get Ready! They’ll be moving to a bigger location on November 1st. This one will be located at 1401 S. HWY 160, Suite B.
Rumor has it, the family room is going to be larger at the new location too!
The owners shared with me that the new family room will feature vibrant colors, fun patterns, new toys for imagination and pretend play, as well as more books and blocks!
They will also have things for various age groups, including the older kids.

2. Take a Tour of the Green Life Produce Farm
Number two on our list is already a very well known farm in the valley.
With how much they have to offer, this will be one of your family’s favorite places to hang out too!
For those who haven’t been there yet, Green Life Produce’s farm will transport you out of the desert the moment you step out of your car.
It’s a beautiful property!
There is so much to see, smell and taste.
(Make sure you wait to eat anything until after purchasing!)
We had the opportunity to watch one of the employees harvest the onions on a Friday morning. The aroma of the fresh onions was wonderful!
The Farm Store
The Green Life Produce Farm Store has so many options to choose from.
With prices comparable to the local grocery store, it’s a no-brainer that we’d rather support our local farmer.
Here are some of the things you’ll find:
- Fresh produce, eggs and pre-made salads
- Meat from B-H Premium Meats
- Green Life Produce Apparel
- Hand crafted goods like candles, tallow balm, sage, jewelry and so much more!
B-H Premium Meats
We were thrilled to find out they now sell beef and pork from B-H Premium Meats!
The meat comes from a family owned ranch that raises cattle in Southern Utah. The cattle are grass-fed, grass-finished and pasture raised.
The prices were also surprisingly comparable to specialty natural food stores found in Las Vegas.
We no longer have to make the long trek to Vegas every week just to buy quality meat.
Our family will save a lot of money on gas!
Things to Do for the Kids
The kids can enjoy the little outdoor play area right outside the farm store.
A free activity for the kids as Mom shops?!
Genius.
This is a place you’ll want to stick around for a while.
Our son was having a blast filling up the kid sized wheel barrow with dirt as he pretended to be the farmer running this whole operation.
The last stop for us was to check out the chickens, goats and pumpkin patch near the entrance.
All of the animals look extremely happy with the wide open space they have.
We can’t wait for their Annual Pahrumpkin Patch at the end of October!
Needless to say, we’re excited to have found our new source of eggs, meat and fresh produce conveniently at one location.
This has already become a fun weekly activity for our entire family!
Make sure to also check out their First Annual Salsa & Chili Showdown on October 12, 2024! There will be food, live music, games and much more. The event is free to attend.
Support your local farmer and come check out Green Life Produce with the family this Fall.
The memories you’ll make here will last a lifetime!
Green Life Produce, 6640 Hawkins Way, Pahrump, NV 89061
3. Sign Up for Fall Family Kickball
Get your game faces on Moms and Dads!
If you haven’t heard, the Pahrump Valley Rec League has Family Kickball this Fall every Saturday from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
The first game will be on September 28, 2024, at Ian Dutch Memorial Park on Field 4.
The best part of all…
There is still time to register the entire family!
They’ve made it easy to sign up by visiting their website at www.pvrl.org.
The cost is $25 for the first athlete, $0 for a second, $25 for the third, $0 for the fourth, etc.
*All baseball registrations include free participation in the kickball games.
So brush off those old sneakers. Stretch those calves.
And get ready to embarrass your kids with those celebratory dance moves.
THIS IS THE MOMENT YOU’VE BEEN TRAINING FOR SINCE THEY WERE BORN.
“The goal is to get together and build strong community bonds through fun physical activity. We have had some great games and hope to have more people join us in a family-friendly environment where we can all play together.”
– Pahrump Valley Rec League
Not able to play? Come out and show your support anyways.
It’s bound to be a great time for the whole community!
4. Go on a Nature Walk at Discovery Park
Number four on my list may surprise you.
You’re going to have to hear me out on this one.
It’s not just an abandoned golf course.
And you wouldn’t be able to tell that certain parts of this park are beautiful just by driving by on Pahrump Valley Boulevard.
Why is this on my list of activities for the family?
I’ll tell you a secret.
There’s a hidden oasis waiting for you and your kids to explore if you decide to give Discovery Park a chance this Fall.
Don’t believe me?
Keep reading about how our family discovered the perfect park for our Nature Walks.
Don’t Judge a Park by its Entrance
I can’t even count how many times we’ve passed by Discovery Park not knowing this was actually a park.
To be honest, it’s not a place I’ve even heard my other mom-friends talk about.
Our family decided to be adventurous and see what this park was all about after randomly reading about it being a “go birding” attraction.
You won’t believe what we discovered!
Two ponds in the middle of the park, surrounded by an abundance (yes, by desert standards) of beautiful greenery and wildlife.
There’s No Other Park Like it in Pahrump!
The grassy areas and large trees right behind some of the homes are the perfect spot for a family picnic.
Enjoy the sounds of nature as the kids explore!
Some Helpful Tips
- After parking near the entrance off Pahrump Valley Boulevard, you’ll want to start your walk by taking the trail to the left. The other way hasn’t received much attention yet.
- Bring a wagon instead of a stroller. This trail is pretty rough due to the lack of maintenance.
- Since this park is intended as a bird viewing sanctuary, you won’t find much for the children. Turn the trail into a Nature Walk or Scavenger Hunt!
- Be careful! The park isn’t very well maintained like I’ve mentioned before. Keep a close eye on your children.
Nature Walk Ideas
It was a little difficult to keep our five year old’s attention on the majority of the trail.
If our son’s grandmother was with us she’d have her DSLR camera ready to go to capture amazing photos of all the beautiful birds.
With her extensive bird knowledge, our son would be excited to hear about each and every single one of them! The problem is that not all of us are bird experts.
This begs the question…
How can you keep your child happy when there’s no slides or swings nearby?
Fortunately, there is a simple solution.
With a little creativity you can turn this trail into a Scavenger Hunt or Nature Walk that will (hopefully) keep your child’s interest.
Here are a few ideas of things you can have them find along the trail:
- Pine cone
- Flower
- Log
- Spiderweb
- Tree Roots
- Bird
- Green Leaf
- Ant
- Flying Bug
- Cloud
- Brown Leaf
- Duck
By the end of the walk, our son had a blast and now talks about coming back to his “most favorite park.”
The Future of Discovery Park
As a mom, I can see the potential this park has for our community as a whole:
- A playground for the little ones.
- A maintained pathway for a walk, jog or run.
- Live music coming from a small amphitheater.
- A flourishing natural habitat for all the wildlife.
As I imagined all of this and more, I remembered something Dr. Seuss wrote in one of my son’s favorite books:
“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”– Dr. Seuss, The Lorax
If you’d like to get involved with the restoration of Discovery Park you can find more info on the Friends of Discovery Park’s Facebook page.
For moms without a Facebook account, like myself, I’ll have to keep an eye out for anything posted at the park or from word of mouth.
Our community as a whole would truly benefit from a park like this to come together.
Don’t let the entrance of Discovery Park steer you away. Discover for yourself the potential this park has for you and your family.
5. See the Fall Foliage at Ash Meadows
Living in the desert doesn’t mean you have to miss out on all the pretty Fall foliage this year.
Mid-October our family will be taking a field trip to see the leaves turn colors at Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge.
This activity may not be in Pahrump BUT it is only 30 miles away which makes it the perfect quick getaway for the family.
Did you know? Ash Meadows is the largest remaining oasis in the Mojave Desert.
Here are some of the things you’ll find at Ash Meadows:
- A Visitor Center with interactive exhibits, a bookstore and picnic area.
- Crystal Springs Boardwalk (0.9 mile round trip)
- Long Street Boardwalk (525 feet loop)
- Point of Rocks Boardwalk (0.5-mile loop)
- Devil’s Hole (water filled cavern)
- And so much more!
What makes this Fall Family Activity even better?
It’s completely free for the whole family to enjoy!
When can you expect to see the Fall foliage?
The Smoky Mountain’s 2024 Fall Foliage Prediction Map is a great resource to help you decide when to plan a visit.
You can check out the map on their website at www.smokymountains.com.
Take note!
Fall is a very popular time to visit. Go on a weekday if you’d like to avoid any crowds.
The address for Ash Meadows Visitor Center is 610 Spring Meadows Road, Amargosa, NV 89020.
For more information, you can visit the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service’s website: www.fws.gov/refuge/ash-meadows.
